# What is Google Data Studio?

The reports provided by WitCloud are based on the Google Data Studio tool. It is also our preferred tool for creating reports yourself. Google Data Studio is a free data visualization tool from Google. Creates advanced, dynamic and content- and optically sophisticated reports.

# How do I create a report?

First, you need to sign in with your Google account, which has access to the data you want to visualize. The next step is to visit Link (opens new window) where you will see several options available, to create your own report click on Blank Report.

The main advantage of using Google Data Studio is that it allows you to present data from multiple sources in a single report. Once you have imported your data, you can freely edit it within a report without having to switch between tools.

# How do I share the Google Data Studio report?

You can share Google Data Studio reports as follows: To share the report with another person, click on the share button in the upper right corner.

# Granting Access:

Another useful feature is the ability to assign users specific permissions to a report. In Data Studio, you can grant the client access to the view, and the other team members who will be working on the report will be given the ability to edit. By clicking on the Share button in the upper right corner, after selecting manage access you have the option to assign individual roles.

# Copy report

In Google data studio we have the possibility to copy an entire report or a single page depending on our needs. This can help us when we want to make changes and don't want to risk losing the results of our previous work. To do this, go to the button in the upper right corner and select make a copy.

# Report date range and comparison data in Google Data Studio.

For the figures shown in the tables, or in the graphs, we can also collate data from the same period. The date range checkbox can show basically any default date range we choose.

To compare data across time periods, select the specific field with the value you want to compare. You will then see the menu on the right, where in the comparison date range section you select the period of interest.

Date range in Data Studio vs. Google Analytics

This is the same function as comparing date ranges in Google Analytics, but in Data Studio we don't have the ability to compare the entire report with one click but have to set the date range in each field separately.
